Top 5 Pilates Tips for Girls on a Budget
Okay, so, we get it. Pilates can be expensive.
As someone who instructs, I actually totally get it. Even when I want to take a class, I am hit with a big “oof!” when it comes to paying the studio.
Why is Pilates so expensive?
It’s often because the certification and yearly qualifications are HIGHLY time intensive and require hundreds of hours of training and thousands of dollars of investment. How does the old adage go…you get what you pay for?
It’s expensive to maintain your certification as well as receive it. Additionally, equipment is large, expensive, and extremely nuanced. Additionally, planning for each class and each client based on their needs and ailments takes a high level of expertise and care. Especially if a studio or instructor does not believe in a one size fits all approach or works in tandem with PT’s (like me!).
So - what can you do if you want to be a pilates girly, and receive all the benefits, but can’t afford reformer classes? Here are some of my tips!
Talk with your studio or the instructor about private or group classes & plan to go once or twice a month. We recommend more frequently, however, if its what you can afford, a package will take you a long way!
Buy a package! It’s more up front, but often the per session rate is cheaper. Also check into your studios auto-renew policy.
Try a virtual program! They are fun to do at home, quite difficult, and still give you a pilates community. You and your friends could even meet up and do the same virtual class.
Try duets OR splitting the cost among friends for an “in home” pilates session. 100$ for an hour of in home pilates can become quite affordable if you get a group of girls together!
Research studios & instructors near you! Often times there are instructors (like me) who have different rates if they can teach out of their homes or smaller less corporate locations.
In the end- look at what your priorities are with your money and see what is best for you! Just know, your body will ALWAYS thank you for the challenge of pilates.
